JQuery Web Parts - Feature packaged in a Sharepoint Solution

Oct 13, 2008 at 12:23 AM
Great project!

I have created a SharePoint Feature "jQuery Web Parts". It adds the web parts to the site's Web-Part Gallery when activated, and removes them when deactivated. I used WspBuilder to create a SharePoint Solution package "JQueryWebParts.wsp", which can be installed using STSADM.

The entire Visual Studio package can be downloaded from here. It is derived from release #2468.
The only change I made to the source was to standardize the namespaces used by the web-parts, add a FeatureReceiver, and add  various deployment files in the "12" folder.

To install:
Use STSADM to install the feature.
Go to Site Settings > Site Features to activate "JQuery Web Parts".

1. Create a page and open it in SharePoint Designer

2. Add the following to the top of the page:
<%@ Register Tagprefix="cc1" Namespace="jQuery.ScriptManager" Assembly="JQueryWebParts, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=92ea1f7cc29b64f7" %>

3. Add the following to the head section of the page:
<cc1:jQueryManager ID="JQueryManager1" runat="server">
Your jQuery code goes here

Also copy "styles.css" and the images from the project to the SharePoint server.

4. Use the SharePoint user interface to add one of the web parts to the page.

Was Styles.css and the images supposed to be a part of the download?
